ENTREVES
Often compared with Courmayeur, a neighbouring city,
Entreves is more of a mountain
village, inhabited by an ancient
community, than a proper town. The
village is small and compact and
the people live in quaint wooden
houses. Courmayeur is much larger
and is a typical bustling resort
that has very good ski slopes.
Tourists enjoy its shopping, its
restaurants and its nightlife. But
for the quieter side of their
holidays they prefer the less
crowded Entreves. The approach to
the town is through a steep and
narrow road. Entrèves--Even
older than Courmayeur, Entrèves
is an ancient community that's
small and compact, really a
mountain village of wooden houses.
Many visitors prefer its alpine
charm to the more bustling resort
of Courmayeur; they ski the slopes
at Courmayeur and enjoy its
shopping, dining, and nightlife,
but they retreat here to stay in a
quieter, less congested setting.
Entrèves is reached by a steep
and narrow road. Many gourmets
come here just to enjoy the
regional food for which the
village is renowned. Just outside
Entrèves on the main highway lies
the Val Veny cable car,
which skiers take in winter to
reach the Courmayeur lift system.
Entrèves
is 3km (2 miles) north of
Courmayeur (signposted off Route
26). Buses from the center of
Courmayeur run daily to Entrèves.
